Northern Colorado High School Triathlon Team was founded in April 2010. Each year we offer three 8 week training sessions. We provide a healthy environment for young racing enthusiasts . We provide 3-5 practices each week (at least one swim, one bike and one run)
This program is open to any high school student, regardless of experience or ability. “The goal of the team is to give local high school athletes the opportunity to compete in a multisport program that stresses conditioning, achieving personal goals and competing in a Sprint triathlon,” says Mader. The May and September Triathlon sponsored by the Fort Collins Club consists of a 450 yard swim, a 13 mile bike ride, and a 3.1 mile (5 K) run.
What you can expect from the coaches
* To provide youth with organized training and competition in a safe environment;
* Build friendships through a common interest in sportsmanship and competition;
* Provide positive role models who inspire greatness;
* Instill lifelong habits of hard work, discipline, courage, determination, education, resourcefulness, positive attitude and teamwork;
* Provide a level of coaching that matches each's ability and aspiration—from beginner to competitor;
* Encourage healthy balance between social, scholastic and athletic endeavors;
Triathlon is an excellent childhood activity that promotes enjoyment of exercising and health, helping to combat the alarming growth of obesity based diabetes in youth today. Our team helps build a love for multisport and fitness that lasts into adulthood.
